          Providing leadership and support to member agencies, through communication, information sharing and a strong united voice.

       

    Vision

          A council that influences policy decisions and quality service.

   

    Philosophy 

The South Region Council of Service Providers is a community of service providers striving to offer quality services to persons with developmental disabilities. By working together, the council provides a strong, consistent message to the community and to decision makers regarding the needs of people with all types of disabilities. We share common purposes, support our colleagues and value our differences and allow opportunities for new perspectives. The key to our success is the utilization of continuous stakeholder consultations about emerging needs and innovative practices.

  

    Methodology 

The council will endeavor to provide an avenue for directing our collective energies and resources toward significance at a system wide level through:

  • Communicating with regional authorities and other decision makers
  • Sharing best practices and resources
  • Collaborating across membership
  • Addressing collective issues and influence the system
  • Supporting peers within and across the association
  • Collaborating and cooperating with regional/provincial group

  • When speaking on behalf of the association, will do so only with clear guidance and consent

Role 

        As a group, the council is positioned to act:

  • To operate as a unified body of concerned service providers
  • To work with the south region PDD board for equitable distribution of resources and to collaborate with similar Regional groups on insuring adequate resources are allocated by Government for services and wages
  • To provide direction to the PDD Boards as to the need to promote services in the community and live up to the stated directions and philosophy of community governance
  • To coordinate efforts of area service providers, speak on behalf of service providers and represent service providers at various consultation tables
  • To provide a forum for: reviewing strategies in dealing with PDD Boards; reviewing issues of governance in this sector; reviewing volunteer development issues within this sector; networking for upcoming events and happenings
  • To advocate on behalf of staff, clients and agencies to ensure fair and equal treatment across the south region
  • To represent service provider concerns and priorities to funders and the general public
  • To provide a forum for the “big picture” discussion
  • To advocate for equitable funding

 

The Organization 

The council of Service Providers is a voluntary, non-registered, self governing, stand alone organization concerned with the enhancement of quality services for persons with developmental disabilities in the South region.

 

Membership 

Membership is open to all organizations that provide service to persons with developmental disabilities whose primary funding for those individuals is from the south region PDD board. Agencies become registered members of the council upon payment of an annual membership fee. Dues will be set annually at the Annual General Meeting by the membership.  It is expected that the most senior level of management will represent the organizations at the council, as designated/authorized by the member organization. Members must be in compliance with Creating Excellence Together (CET) Standards or Accreditation

    Membership Commitment

        As a member I agree to:

  • Support the philosophy of the Council of Service Providers (CSP); offer quality services to persons with developmental disabilities, to maintain CET certification/accreditation and to work together with the council to provide strong consistent message to decision makers regarding the needs of people with all types of disabilities.

  • Participate in the development of CSP positions/responses to issues/concerns.
  • Operate as a unified body and stand behind positions, actions and correspondence developed by the CSP.
  •  Work with other service providers on matters of mutual benefit.
  • Attend scheduled meetings or notify council secretary if unable to attend.
  • Serve on council committees as required.
  • Share information, best practices and resources.
